White fillings offer an alternative to conspicuous silver amalgam fillings, giving you a tooth-coloured restoration that protects your tooth from further decay.
Why our patients love white fillings
White (tooth-coloured) fillings offer a discreet solution for teeth that have fallen foul of decay. We can also replace old silver fillings with white fillings if you would like to update to a tooth-coloured alternative.
- Restore cavities, decay and worn teeth.
- Less tooth structure needs to be removed.
- Shade-matched to your natural tooth shade.
- Replace amalgam (silver) fillings with a discreet alternative.
- Mercury-free tooth restoration.
- Don’t break and crack due to temperature changes.
The white fillings process
Step 1: Examination
We will examine your teeth to check the level of decay or damage present. If you already have a filling and it has sustained damage or wear, you may wish to have this replaced with a white filling.
Step 2: Cleaning the tooth
The decay or existing restoration is removed from the tooth.
Step 3: Placing your filling
Your white filling is placed. The shade will match your natural tooth shade.
FAQs
How long does a white filling last?
White fillings can last at least 10 years. Some of the factors that determine their lifespan include:
- Where the filling is going to be placed in the mouth.
- Whether or not you grind your teeth.
- How well you look after your teeth (filled teeth sustain decay and gum disease).
What are white fillings made of?
White fillings are made of composite resin, whilst amalgam silver fillings contain mercury. White fillings do not contain any toxic materials.
